A Single Dad’s Parenting Guide
By: Parenting Procedures
When a single dad becomes responsible for his kids, he does receive a book informing him what to look out for at any stage in the course of each kid’s growth. Moms are inclined to be more conversant with the growth phases of kids. Even so, single dads have to recognize that having knowledge of a kid’s growth phases does not at all times promise a preparedness to handle those phases.
Single dads wish to carry on with a kid’s upbringing in a way that radiates serenity and good judgment. That obviously cannot always be achieved. A single dad finds it impossible to stay cool when his kid is hurling fragile articles in a departmental store. A single dad does not, out of the blue, be imbued with Solomon’s Wisdom, the instant that his daughter or son chooses to inform a buddy that neither Santa Clause nor the tooth fairy exists.
Gregory Keer, an author and a single dad, has made a great effort to control his emotions and to discover wisdom in the above-stated catastrophes. He has counseled single dads not to attach excessive importance on the significance of such qualities. In the end, a kid’s supreme requirement is love.
A kid has to feel affection. A kid has to he truly feel that others care for him. A kid should be held dear for being what she or he is. The single dad must spell out to each kid that he really loves that kid. The single dad should demonstrate the way in which every kid occupies an exclusive spot in the dad’s life.
Showing that you care does not call for the bestowing of innumerable gifts. Expressing love entails the giving of hugs, kisses, and cuddles. Single dads have to realize what professional have found out about such expressions of love.
One particular survey group decided to concentrate on some 379-kindergarten kids. The survey group carefully researched these kids for around 36 years. The survey group inspected the influence of several diverse factors, factors that have a bearing on adult social adjustment. This group discovered that expressions of love, rather than factors, assisted in the building of adult social abilities.
When parents bestow love on their kids, the kids grow up to emulate them. They understand how to express love to a partner. They do not back away from building close friendships. They draw happiness from their personal life as well as from participating in activities outside of their home.
Although a single dad may not be lucky enough to get his hands on a book that talks about the things to be done or avoided by a man like himself, a single dad can get useful insights by going through periodicals that focus on young people. A particular article published in Teen Magazine was on “Alternative Families.”
Here, a youngster talked about her dad, and this is what was mentioned regarding her dad: “At my dad’s place, I have my own bedroom, but I spend more time at my mom’s place - it’s centrally located and everything is close by. Quite a few kids get to have their dads’ company only on the weekends. However, I see my dad daily. He drops me off at school every morning. He is present when my drill team performs. While he lives separately, I can always count on him.”
At the end of the youngster’s account, one gets to learn a lot about the significance of love. The teenager goes on to say: “In my family, everybody can be relied upon for support; it’s just that we don’t stay together. I believe that these are the ones who truly love me and are concerned about me, and all of us draw our strength from each other.”
A demonstration of love to kids in turn promises an exhibition of love from kids. A single dad can treasure such love.
